Swain County HS grad Matthew Gray, currently a Junior at AppState, won the Pole Vault at last weekend's Sun Belt Conference Championships with clearance of 19-2, setting a School Record, Meet Record and Facility Record.

Gray, who had a high school best of 16-9, currently ranks No. 1 in the NCAA, No. 5 in the U.S., and No. 13 in the world this year, and ranks him No. 11 in NCAA outdoor history. Gray Takes Home SBC Field Performer of the Year - AppStateSports.com

Former Charlotte Myers Park HS runner Mary Bonner Dalton, currently a sophomore at Notre Dame, placed 2nd in the 5000 at the recent ACC Indoor Championships in Brighton, Massachusetts. Her time was 15:48.14. Meet Results.
