State CC Meet Set

Cross-country runners from Class 3-A and 4-A teams will meet in Charlotte Saturday to compete for state championships.

Sixteen 4-A teams, which qualified by finishing in the top four at regional meets last weekend, and 20 runners, five from each regional, who qualified as individuals, will race for 4-A titles at McAlpine Park. The boys' race will start at 11 a.m., and the girls' race will start at 11:30.

In the 3-A meet, 12 teams from three regionals and 15 individuals will compete for titles. The 3-A boys' race will start at 10 a.m., and the 3-A girls' race will start at 10:30 a.m.

Central Piedmont 4-A Coaches of the Year

Guy Spear of Mount Tabor was named the top boys' coach and David Morris of R.J. Reynolds was the top girls' coach.
