1995 was the first year that the meet was not held in Chapel Hill. The championships were held in the Special Events Center at the Greensboro Coliseum. It was also the first year that metric distances were run instead of the traditional yard distances.

North Forsyth's girls, led by coach Tina Heafner defended their team title. The Vikings did not win a single individual event.

Pinecrest's Twyla Smith smashed the old triple jump record of 38-9 3/4 set by by DeAnne Davis (Cummings) the previous year, with a notable performance of 40-11 1/2.
