Note: The ME-GA 7 4A was formed in 1993 and disbanded after the 2000-2001
school year. The name ME-GA was chosen to represent where the schools were from:
MEcklenburg and GAston Counties. The championships were held at
Olympic each year. The conference consisted of teams from Mecklenburg County
(Harding, North Mecklenburg, Olympic, West Mecklenburg) and Gaston County
(Ashbrook, East Gaston, Hunter Huss). Harding moved to 3A after the 1996-1997
school year. A new Mecklenburg County school, Vance, became a member at the
beginning of the 1997 season. The 1998 meet was run on a slightly adjusted
course because of construction at Olympic. The conference disbanded after the
2000-2001 school year, with Gaston County schools moving to 3A and Olympic
moving to the Southwestern 4A.

Note: The ME-CA 8 4A was formed in 2001. The name ME-CA was chosen to
represent where the schools were from: MEcklenburg and CAbarrus
Counties. The first four championships were held at Reedy Creek Park. The
conference consisted of teams from Mecklenburg County (Harding, Hopewell,
Independence, North Mecklenburg, Vance, West Charlotte, West Mecklenburg) and
Cabarrus County (Central Cabarrus). Hopewell, a new Mecklenburg County school
which opened in 2001, became a member in the conference's first year. Central
Cabarrus and Harding moved from the South Piedmont 3A to 4A to join the conference
in its first year and Independence and West Charlotte moved from the Southwestern
4A. North Mecklenburg, Vance and West Mecklenburg were holdovers from the
ME-GA 7 4A, which disbanded because of realignment. It became the ME-CA 6 in
2005 with two Cabarrus County Schools (Central Cabarrus, Robinson) and four
Mecklenburg County Schools (Hopewell, North Mecklenburg, Vance, West Charlotte),
and ME-CA 7 in 2007 (with the addition of Mallard Creek in Charlotte).

Mecklenburg. In 2009, Charlotte Catholic, Garinger, Harding, Olympic, Waddell
and West Mecklenburg joined East Gaston to form the ME-GA 7 3A/4A (they dropped
the name Queen City because all the schools weren't from Charlotte). Although
it took the name of a former conference (ME-GA) and stood for MEcklenburg and
GAstonia, the teams were somewhat different from the ME-GA 7 that was in existence
from 1993-2000 (teams in that league that were in this new version of the ME-GA 7
were: Harding, Olympic, West Mecklenburg and East Gaston).
