1959: Myers Park HS Coach Stuart Allen

This photo appeared in the 1960 Myers Park HS yearbook. Stockton had just won his second straight title and Coach Stuart Allen was receiving
his second straight state cross-country championship trophy. It was the fourth straight state cross-country title for the school.
Stockton and West finished 1-2 in the meet. Myers Park's 3rd through 5th runners were Ned Mathews, Morrison Lowrance, and Billy Mitchell.
Allen went on to be an assistant football coach and head track coach. By the time he left Myers Park in 1971 he had led the Mustangs to
eleven state championships in track and field.
In 2019 Allen was inducted into the inaugural class of the North Carolina High School Track & Field/Cross Country Hall of Fame.
