Conference history:
* The SPAA Conference was formed in 1980 and has held cross country championships off
and on since then, depending on the number of schools with cross country teams in the 
conference.

*In 1979, 5 schools formed the Independent Private School League of the Carolinas (IPSLC), with the following schools: Carolina Christian (Charlotte), North Hills Christian (Salisbury), Paw Creek Christian (Charlotte), Southview Academy (Wadesboro), Valleydale School (Charlotte).
*In 1980, the SPAA was formed from most of the IPSLC schools and consisted of Carolina Christian (Charlotte), Paw Creek Christian (Charlotte), Southview Academy (Wadesboro), Valleydale School (Charlotte).
*In 1981, Charlotte Christian left the CISAA to join the SPAA.
*In 1981, the SPAA consisted of: Carolina Christian (Charlotte), Charlotte Christian, Paw Creek Christian (Charlotte), Resurrection Lutheran Christian (Charlotte), Southview Academy (Wadesboro), Valleydale School (Charlotte).

*In 2001, the SPAA meet consisted of Cannon School (Concord), First Assembly (Gastonia), Gaston Day (Gastonia), Resurrection Christian (Charlotte), United Faith (Charlotte).
*In 2002, the SPAA meet consisted of Cannon School (Concord), First Assembly (Gastonia), and Victory Christian (Charlotte).
*In 2003, the SPAA meet consisted of Covenant Day, Gaston Day and Statesville Christian.
*In 2004, the SPAA meet consisted of Covenant Day, Gaston Day, Gastonia First Assembly, Resurrection Christian, Statesville Christian.
*In 2007, the SPAA meet consisted of Davidson Day, Gaston Day, SouthLake Christian, Statesville Christian.
*In 2013, the SPAA meet consisted of Carmel Christian, Gaston Day, Hickory Christian, United Faith.
