Despite all-day rain the the track being very muddy, Meet Records were set in three events:
14.3 Jeff Howser, Charlotte Myers Park (old record 14.4 Howser 1965)
1:29.9 Charlotte Myers Park (old record 1:30.1 Myers Park 1965)
55-11 Bill Griffin, Edenton (old record 55-9 1/4 Mike Richey, Myers Park 1964)
Also, Jeff Howser (Myers Park) may have been robbed of a record in the Low Hurdles. (No smoke from starter's pistol ..Timing was hand-timing using stopwatchs)

Interesting trivia: Runners from the Charlotte/Mecklenburg County area won both hurdle events, all the flat running events, and possibly both relays. (We still have not been able to find out who won the 1966 Mile Relay.) The vault and discus were also won by Charlotte-area athletes.
