1999 1-A State Championships

Swain County's Erik Perkins with 600m to go. Perkins became only the
second runner (in any classification) to win three straight state championships.
Tommy Trehern, also from Swain Co. won three straight from 1990 - 1992. (Trehern
won three straight when the 1-A and 2-A classifications ran together.)

Hendersonville's Ariel Glassman on her way to winning by almost 2 minutes.

Hayesville won its first girls state cross country title, beating
Murphy, who had won five straight (and 7 of the last 9) state championships.
