East Forsyth's Dylan Ferris ran high school bests of 1:49.27 and 4:06.7h as a junior. The 1:49.27 was the all-time best 800 for a North Carolina high schooler for six years.

Ferris won the NCHSAA outdoor 800 three years in a row (1:51.95, 1:51.48, 1:52.32), and won the 1600 his junior and senior years (4:14.12, 4:17.96). His senior year he also led off East's 2nd-place 4x800 (7:51.97) and was selected the Most Valuable Performer at the 2008 meet.

Indoors, Ferris had an 800 best of 1:54.4h his senior year at Virginia Tech, 2:29.03 for the 1000, and 4:14.58 in the 1600. He also ran a noteworthy 1:51.9 anchor on East's 4x800.

Ferris won the NCHSAA indoor 1000 as a junior and senior (2:29.03, 2:33.29), 1600 as a senior (4:26.04) and was named Most Valuable Performer at that meet (2008).

He won the Mile (4:13.38) at the 2008 Golden West Invitational in Folsom, California.

Ferris was named NC Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year for 2008.

Ferris went to Stanford University, where he became a Sub-4 Miler, running a 3:58.90 indoors 2/13/10 in Seattle, Washington.
