Note: This list involves only genuine One-Mile track races; not relay legs, 1600s or road races.

One Mile is 1609 meters. It's 9 meters (9 yards, 2 feet and 6.330708661417248 inches) longer than the 1600.  To convert Mile times to 1600 meters, Track and Field News and The High School Yearbook use .994194 multiplied by the Mile performance in seconds.

Bolas' best 1600/Mile in high school was in a 1600m race (4:04.38). Mack also (4:10.61i). All of the others ran their high school best for 1600/Mile in a Mile race. The 'y' following the times indicates it was a Mile time. (See NC All-Time 1600/Mile List)  Note that many of these guys are also on the 800 and 3200 lists.

Hansen was the 1st NC miler to run under 4:00 while in high school -- which he did twice.
