High Point Andrews' boys won their fifth straight
championship, 36.5 points ahead of AL Brown. And they
won without the top 3-A sprinter, Darius Brewington
who was out with an injury.

Andrews' vaulter Shannon Pope bettered his own 3-A state meet
record of 14-9 he had set the previous year with a 15-3.75.
It also bettered the all-time state meet record of 15-2 set
11 years previously by Mike Thurber of Greenville Rose.

Sun Valley's 4x800 ran 7:56.74 to break the meet record set
by in 1988 by Sun Valley (7:57.77). The team consisted of
Garson Hedrick, Matt Ferguson, Clarence Alsobrooks,
and Mark Hill.

Mia Richardson of McMichael broke the 800m meet record with
a 2:16.81. The old record was 2:18.12 set in 1987 by Francine Dumas (TC Roberson).

High Point Central's girls 4x100 ran 49.01 to break the old record
of 49.37 by Statesville in 1990.
